- Recent phylogenetic studies (e.g., Arabi et al. 2022, Taxon 71(3): 608-629; Sharples and Tripp 2019, Syst. Botany 44: 857-876) as well as detailed morphological and embryological comparisons (Li et al. 2016, J. Bot. 48: 1527–1535; Wang et al. 2017, Phytotaxa 306: 124–134) all demonstrate that the formerly monotypic genus Myosoton should be merged with Stellaria.
- Habitat
- Well-drained floodplain forests (particularly along large rivers), marshes, stream banks, and moist disturbed sites. Infrequent to locally common in the mountains and northern Piedmont; rare elsewhere.
