- Although sometimes treated as a variety of Triodanis perfoliata, this species differs significantly enough in capsule, seed, and floral morphology to merit species rank. Occasional specimens of equivocal disposition may represent hybrids of the two species.
- Habitat
- Dry open forests, fields, roadsides, and other weedy disturbed habitats. Frequent in the Coastal Plain and s. outer Piedmont; rare elsewhere in the Piedmont.
