- Fields, pastures, lawns, roadsides, and other open, disturbed habitats. Common throughout. Because of its toxicity to livestock, it is often very abundant in heavily grazed pastures. In frequently mowed lawns, it is capable of flowering and fruiting when just a few centimeters tall.
