- Comments
- Our only winter-annual Sisyrinchium; limited to lawns, mowed roadsides, and heavily disturbed habitats. Its original range and habitat are unclear. First found in Chesapeake in 1993 and spreading in recent years.
This species has traditionally been known as Sisyrinchium rosulatum, but Sorrie (2023, J. Bot. Res. Inst. Texas 17(1): 197-256) synonymized that name with Sisyrinchium micranthum, which has priority. He also demonstrated that the species is not native to the United States. - Habitat
- Lawns and roadsides; usually grows in frequently mowed habitats and very difficult to detect when not in flower. Apparently infrequent but unquestionably under-documented; known from a few counties in the s. Coastal Plain and several in the c. and s. Piedmont.
- Native Status
- Introduced
