- Included in the synonymy of Dicranum scoparium in Crum and Anderson but recognized by FNA. Dicranum bonjeanii is recognized by its shorter, erect-spreading leaves which are tubulose and subentire distally. Costas are only slightly ridged on the back. Apparently, such plants may occur in a wide variety of habitats.
In Virginia, detached stem tips have been observed on top of cushions from stems fragmenting distally as is seen with Campylopus. - Habitat
