- Reported for the first time from Virginia by L.E. Urbatsch, et als (2013) in Castanea 78:330-337 based on a specimen collected by R. Dale Thomas in 1983 in a churchyard in Virginia Beach. Other "odd looking" Youngia plants have been seen in eastern Virginia and could represent additional records for the species.
