- Comments
- According to FNA, B. rotaeanum ought to be widespread in Virginia. It is possible that specimens identified as salebrosum and campestre, which probably do not occur in Virginia, should be referred here. A wholesale study of Virginia material of Brachythecium is needed to bring coherency to its treatment here. As with other species of Brachythecium, it is important to use stem leaves to evaluate leaf cells across the insertion. They are more-or-less homogeneous in this species which distinguishes it from other similar plicate-leaved species.
- Habitat
- FNA gives the habitat for this species as "trees, bases and inclined trunks, fresh logs, soil, rock."
- Native Status
- Native
