A well-established population was found in the drawn-down bed of Mountain Lake in 2020. The colony occurs in an area influenced by seepage near the southern margin of the lake. This European species is more robust and more obviously hairy than any of our our native Epilobium. It is introduced in the northeast and Great Lake states, with the closest occurrences found in southern Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Habitat
Full sun to part shade in exposed bed of Mountain Lake. In shrub-free area with seepage influence.
