A Southeastern species, similar to Scleria triglomerata but with narrower leaves, pubescent sheaths, and slightly larger achenes. It is apparently always a plant of dry habitats, never in wetlands. Its status in Virginia is poorly known, as most previous floristic studies have lumped it under S. triglomerata.
Habitat
Dry, usually sandy woodlands and clearings. Infrequent or rare in the se. Virginia Coastal Plain, with two records from the Piedmont.
