Discovered new to Virginia by Jennifer Stanley in 2024. Native of eastern Asia and Oceana, now widely introduced in the southeastern U.S. The Virginia station is currently the northernmost in the range. The Vascular Plants of North Carolina website notes that the species has been "notably spreading" and increasing over the years.
