- Known from two specimens, one collected by Isabel Hildesheim in 2023 at Little Stony Man Mt. (Shenandoah N.P.), the other by T.F. Wieboldt in 2022 from a shale cliff along Jackson River Trail. Other than a few North Carolina populations and an obscure reference to it at Kate's Mtn, West Virginia, this species is more northern.
- Habitat
- Disturbed soil (presumably among greenstone outcrops), elevation 1,086 meters, and in a clump of Pleopeltis under red cedar on SW-facing shale outcrop.
