- Variants said to range into se Va were called Eupatorium aromaticum var. incisum due to their more incised leaf margins. This name is now considered a synonym of Ageratina jucunda which FNA restricts to Florida and s. Georgia. Our plants presumably represent normal variation in A. aromatica, but may be worthy of further study.
- Habitat
- Dry mesic to dry upland forests, woodlands, and clearings; particularly abundant in open forests and woodlands influenced by prescribed or incendiary fires. Widely distributed but rather infrequent in the Coastal Plain and Piedmont; infrequent at low elevations in the mountains.
