- Morin (2020, Phytoneuron 2020-49: 1-46) transferred this species to the new genus Palustricodon as a result of phylogenetic studies demonstrating that Campanula as traditionally circumscribed is polyphyletic. - Bogs, fens, seeps, seepage swamps, alluvial swamps, wet meadows, and old beaver impoundments. Infrequent in the mountains and n. Piedmont; rare elsewhere.
