- Spreading explosively in recent years and now abundant along many major highways and river floodplains in the Piedmont and mountain regions.
Based on the work of Esmailbegi et al. (2018, Taxon 67: 324-340), it appears that this species is properly placed in the genus Mummenhoffia. - Habitat
- A ruderal of mowed highway medians, shoulders, and cut slopes as well as fields and weedy alluvial soils. Infrequent to locally common in the Piedmont and mountains; rare in the Coastal Plain.
