- Shaded, high-elevation stream banks, seeps, and wet rocks in northern hardwood and spruce-fir forests. Rare, sw. mountains; known only from higher elevations of the Southern Blue Ridge and Clinch Mountain (Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Russell counties).
