- The Giles County station has been destroyed by quarrying. Attempts to find the species nearby have been unsuccessful. Recent studies have shown that Myriopteris is not closely related to Cheilanthes sensu stricto. See Grusz, A.L., and M.D. Windham. 2013. - Dry limestone and dolostone cliffs and outcrops. Rare in the mountains of sw. Virginia; known only from Lee and Giles counties.
