- Moist, usually mossy outcrops and talus of limestone, dolostone, calcareous shales and siltstones, and, rarely, calcareous igneous and metamorphic rocks. Frequent in the mountains at low elevations (locally common in limestone/dolostone areas); rare in the Piedmont.
