- Osmunda ×ruggii R. Tryon, an extremely rare hybrid between Claytosmunda claytoniana and Osmunda spectabilis, occurs with both parents in a ravine on Potts Mountain in Craig County. The single colony here is estimated to be 1100 years old (Wagner et al. 1978). See article by Wagner, et al., in Rhodora 80:92-106 (1978).
- Habitat
- Mesic, forested, mountainside ravine with local seepage. Grows with both parents and Osmundastrum cinnamomeum var. cinnamomeum.
