 - Plants from higher elevations from the Va-W. Va. border area with  rounded-reniform leaves, large flowers, and white, exserted petals were named H. alba by Rydberg. Though included here by Wells (1984), we recognize and map this taxon separately.
Heuchera pubescens is a broad Central Appalachian endemic. - Habitat
 - Rocky forests, woodlands, and rock outcrops, tolerant of a range of soil and rock chemistries; in the mountains, it typically occurs at higher elevations than H. americana.Frequent in the mountains; rare in the inner Piedmont.
