- Knapp et al. (2022, Phytotaxa 522(2): 242-244) found no morphological differences between plants of western North America named Juncus tweedyi and plants of north-central and northeastern North America traditionally called Juncus brevicaudatus. They further established that the name "tweedyi" has priority over "brevicaudatus."
- Habitat
- Bogs, seeps, sphagnous pond edges, and beaver meadows, mostly at higher elevations. Rare but locally common in the mountains.
