- Ward (in J. Bot. Res. Inst. Texas 5(1):197-203 (2011)) argued that the name Landoltia punctata was invalid, and that Spirodela oligorrhiza is the correct name for this species. However, Wiersema (2015, Plant Biology 17(1): 5-9) subsequently provided a detailed rebuttal to Ward’s typification/nomenclatural argument.
- Habitat
- Pools, ponds, and sluggish streams. Locally common in the Coastal Plain, rare (or under-documented) in the eastern Piedmont.
