- Acidic, sandy seeps and seepage swamps; often rooted in Sphagnum hummocks. Rare in the wc. mountains (Ridge and Valley and northern Blue Ridge Mountains; Augusta and Nelson counties) and inner Coastal Plain (Henrico and Caroline counties).
