- Comments
- Differs from the similar and more widespread Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani in its firm culms, dull gray-brown spikelets, and copious dots on the scales. The Virginia stations are quite disjunct from the main, northern and western range of the species.
- Habitat
- Calcareous spring marshes in western Virginia and freshwater tidal marshes in eastern Virginia. Rare, mountains and n. Coastal Plain; recorded only from Augusta County (Ridge and Valley province) and along the tidal Potomac River and its tributaries in Arlington, Fairfax, and Prince William counties.
