A globally rare bulrush, Federally listed as Endangered. The Virginia populations are at the southern end of a narrow, northeastern range.
Habitat
Montane depression ponds. Rare in the wc. Ridge and Valley region; known from about twelve ponds in Augusta, Alleghany, Bath, Bland, and Rockingham counties.
