- Map incomplete at this time, pending additional field and herbarium studies. The two varieties of Dichanthelium ovale can be somewhat problematic and difficult to distinguish in Virginia. Some maritime specimens in particular have intermediate characters and appear to be transitional.
- Habitat
- Dry, rocky woodlands, barrens, and clearings in the mountains and Piedmont; sandhill woodlands, pine barrens, and maritime forests in the Coastal Plain. Apparently rare throughout; all records are from the southern half of the state.
