- Comments
- This weedy, introduced perennial is distinguished by its numerous, small, densely crowded spikelets in a narrow, spikelike panicle. The common name refers to the frequent presence of smut fungus in the inflorescence. Sporobolus indicus very often grows in regularly mowed habitats; it is mainly detectable during periods when a lack of mowing allows it to put up inflorescences, and may therefore be more widespread and numerous than collection records indicate.
