- Fields, pastures, roadsides, and clearings. Infrequent, mountains and Piedmont; rare in the Coastal Plain. This knapweed is a locally abundant and very aggressive weed in northern Virginia. It is now spreading rapidly and becoming more frequent in the central Piedmont and elsewhere.
