- Comments
- At least 5 infraspecific taxa have been named, two of which are attributed to Virginia. Until a more satisfactory treatment is available, we choose not to recognize them here. The species is polymorphic and the utility of recognizing infraspecific taxa seems questionable; see FNA for a lengthy, detailed discussion of this. In any case, mapping these vars. would require a very large amount of herbarium work since they have never been recognized in Virginia studies or collections.given the weedy tendencies and consequent polymorphism of the species.
- Habitat
- Gardens, fields, and other open, weedy habitats. Common throughout.
- Native Status
- Introduced
