- Specimens from the interior formerly mapped as this species are referable to Carex cumberlandensis.
- Habitat
- Well-drained bottomland forests, alluvial and seepage-swamp hummocks, wet flatwoods, depression swamps and ponds, and low, mesic upland forests. Frequent to common in the s. and c. Coastal Plain; infrequent in the n. Coastal Plain; rare in the extreme outer Piedmont.
