- Hybrids with E. perfoliatum have been reported from the City of Richmond and Roanoke Co., see Tucker and Dill in Castanea 54(1):43-48 (1989). The Roanoke population was originally published on by Uttal in Jeffersonia 3(2):5-8 (1969). This hybrid goes by the nothospecies name Eupatorium ×truncatum Muhl. ex Willd.
- Habitat
- Floodplain forests, swamps (all types), seasonally exposed river shores and bars, riverside prairies, interdune swales and ponds, bogs, moist to wet fields, clearings, roadsides, and other disturbed habitats. Common in the Coastal Plain; frequent in the Piedmont; infrequent in the mountains.
