- Comments
- Generally, a large-leaved species of the mountain region. Lectotypified in Taxon 52:337-338 (2003) and considered to represent the entity known as C. pedicellata Sargent, a name that has not often been applied to Virginia specimens. The records in Atlas III are mostly referable to other species.
- Habitat
- Mesic to dry upland deciduous forests, pastures, successional shrublands. Infrequent in the mountains and inner Piedmont.
