- Treatment follows FNA and Flora of the Southeastern U.S. in recognizing vars. of Cuscuta indecora. According to FNA, our plants are var. indecora and two additional vars. (attenutata and longisepala) occur in the lower Midwest.
- Habitat
- Salt scrub and marshes, weedy clearings and roadsides, and disturbed wetlands in the Coastal Plain; reported to parasitize Iva frutescens and plants of the Asteraceae and Fabaceae, especially Lespedeza spp. ; disjunct to a Shenandoah Valley sinkhole pond in Augusta County, where parasitic on Stachys hyssopifolia, Helenium virginicum, and other forbs.Rare throughout, but most records are from the estuarine zones of the Coastal Plain.
