- Collected by J.B. Lewis #3744 in 1942: Brunswick Co., Seward Forest, low grounds, edge of swamp. It should be looked for elsewhere in SE Virginia. Glabrous stems are readily apparent.

- Mesic forests. Rare, s. Piedmont; known from one historical collection in Brunswick County.
