- This Midwestern species is scattered in ruderal habitats of southeastern Virginia. Its nativity here is questionable.
- Habitat
- Sandy clearings and roadsides; also commonly cultivated. Rare; known only from James City and Surry counties and Virginia Beach City in the Coastal Plain, and Mecklenburg and Pittsylvania counties in the s. Piedmont; some, if not all, documented populations may represent escapes from cultivation.
