- The map is a composite of Pycnanthemum incanum var. incanum, P. loomisii, and P. pycnanthemoidesm, which have been widely lumped in previous Virginia floristic studies. Individual maps have been started for the three species based on available herbarium data, but are currently incomplete.
- Habitat
- As a whole, members of the complex inhabit open upland forests, rocky woodlands, barrens, outcrops, forest borders, clearings, and roadsides state-wide except at the highest elevations. See the individual species pages for detailed information on habitat and distribution.
