- Frequently planted, escaped, and naturalized in fencerows, old fields, roadsides, and other disturbed habitats. Infrequent in the Coastal Plain and Piedmont; locally common in some areas and perhaps spreading rapidly, although not as aggressively as Pyrus calleryana.
