- Known from just a single station in Virginia, a calcareous spring marsh in Augusta Co. Found by G. P. Fleming & C. E. Stevens in 1992 and reported as new to Virginia in Castanea 61:93-94 (1996). This northern shrub willow is also frequently planted for ornament, but is not known to escape here.
- Habitat
- Edges of a calcareous fen and spring marsh. Rare, mountains; known only from one site, in the Ridge and Valley region of Augusta County.
