Described in J. Bot. Res. Inst. Texas 5(2):405-414 (2011). As presently known, this hedge-nettle is endemic to a small area of the Blue Ridge of Virginia and adjacent North Carolina.
Habitat
Bogs, fens, wet meadows, and open alluvial soils along small streams; often, but not always, on soils weathered from mafic or ultramafic rock. Rare, sw. mountains; known only from a small area of the Southern Blue Ridge plateau in Carroll, Floyd, and Grayson counties.
