Comments
Collected in 1943 by P.M. Patterson and A.J. Sharp from vicinity of Cascades along Little Stony Creek. Rediscovered in 2024 at the same location. Of the 5 specimens collected at this site by Patterson in 1943, one was labeled as filiforme var. concinnatum (=A. concinnatum), a northern species known only as far south of New York. Since A. julaceum was recently corroborated by additional specimens from this site, the report of A.concinnatum seems in error.
Habitat
The 1943 collections described the microhabitat as "crevices in shale cliff" or "wet crevices of ledge under falls". The 2024 collection was from a wet, shaly rock outcrop near the falls but not in the spray zone.
Native Status
