- The rare Rhabdoweisia crenulata (Mitten) H. Jameson has also been reported from Virginia. The single collection was made by David Briel from a north-facing sandstone cliff on Potts Mountain, near Mountain Lake, Giles County. The specimen (at DUKE) was re-determined as Rhabdoweisia crispata (Becky Smucker, pers. comm.).
- Habitat
- Damp to dry cliffs, outcrops, and boulders in montane forests and open situations; occurs on sandstones, shale, metabasalt, and granitic rocks. Widely distributed but scattered in the mountains.
