Comments
The identity of the single Virginia specimen is in question. According to the Bryophyte FNA provisional publication, it seems more likely that the Virginia plants are environmental variants of Syzygiella autumnalis. The transfer from Jamesoniella to Syzygiella was recently published: Feldberg, K., J. Vána, J. Hentschel & J. Heinrichs. 2010. Currently accepted species and new combinations in Jamesonielloideae (Adelanthaceae, Jungermanniales). Cryptog. Bryol. 31(2): 141–146.
Habitat
A single Virginia specimen at DUKE, collected by R.M. Schuster from the summit of Whitetop summit (elev. ~5500 ft), on intermittently damp, exposed, high vertical cliff. (Biodiversity occurrence data published by DUKE. Accessed through Consortium of North American Bryophyte Herbaria (CNABH) Data Portal, http//:bryophyteportal.org/portal/index.php, 2015-02-10).
