- Comments
- The map includes records for all three subspecies of Arisaema triphyllum, which have only recently been recognized separately in Virginia. However, it is also representative of the distribution of A. triphyllum ssp. triphyllum, which appears to be by far the most numerous and widely distributed subspecies in Virginia, no doubt occurring in every county. Arisaema triphyllum ssp. triphyllum is tetraploid, and is broadly sympatric with diploid ssp. pusillum, with which it sometimes co-occurs and can be difficult to distinguish due to overlapping or intergrading diagnostic characters. See also Comments under A. triphyllum ssp. pusillum and A. triphyllum ssp. stewardsonii.
- Habitat
- Mesic upland forests, floodplain forests, and swamp hummocks. Common throughout.

- Native
