- The Henrico Co. collection represents the first Virginia record. This species is a small, easily overlooked moss of disturbed soils. It is reportedly most common in the Gulf Coastal states, but the Consortium of Bryophyte Herbaria also shows scattered specimens from: Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
