- This rather coarse member of the Dichanthelium commutatum complex has usually been placed in synonymy under that species. It recently received a published name in Dichanthelium (Wipff, J.K. 2020. New combinations in Dichanthelium (Poaceae). Phytologia 102:172–176). Aside from its stiff, robust aspect, the plant usually has a bluish cast to the foliage that is distinctive. It is known from southeastern Virginia to the Gulf Coast.
- Habitat
- Pine barrens, maritime dune woodlands, and dry, sandy forests of the southeastern Coastal Plain. Local, but may be frequent in favorable habitats.
