- Comments
- A little known species, very similar to Gamochaeta calviceps and reportedly native to South America, Cuba, and the southeastern U.S. It
apparently reaches its northern limits in e. Virginia, but one has to wonder if this weedy species might be an introduction in our area. In any case, herbarium specimens labelled "Gamochaeta calviceps" should be checked for misidentificaitons. See Nesom (2004, Sida 21: 1179) for more information. - Habitat
- Sandy fields, clearings, and roadsides. Status uncertain; currently known from scattered collections in the Coastal Plain and e. Piedmont but recent field work suggests that it may be much more frequent than these records indicate.
- Native Status
- Native
