- Maritime dunes, dune blowouts, upper beaches, and overwash flats; sandy openings in maritime forests and dune woodlands; usually found in open sands with few competitors, sometimes occurring with the less common and very similar Euphorbia bombensis. Locally common in the maritime zone of the outer Coastal Plain.
