- First reported in Virginia from Southampton Co. (J. Perry, et als, 1998, Castanea 63:191-194). A second, very large population was recently discovered by Darren Loomis at False Cape State Park, suggesting that this species may be becoming more widely established.
- Habitat
- Open disturbed wetlands, wet roadsides, borders of tidal marshes. Rare, s. Coastal Plain; known from sites in Southampton County and Virginia Beach City but may be more widespread than records indicate.
