- The identification, nomenclature, and distribution of this species in North America is discussed in Castanea 83(2):216-223 (2018). Found in 1975 by T. Bradley escaping from a lawn area (where growing aggressively) into an alluvial forest, where known to be present at least five years. Recently documented by Maeve Coker from two Middle Peninsula counties.
