Discovered 1997 (Fleming and Van Alstine) in Greensville Co. Reported as new to Virginia in Castanea 69:148 (2004).
Habitat
Sandy, seasonally saturated swale in powerline right-of-way; several other state-rare species are associated, including Amphicarpum purshii and Hypericum adpressum. Rare, known from one site in Greensville County at the extreme inner edge of the Coastal Plain.
