Dysphania anthelmintica (L.) Mosyakin & Clemants, reportedly native to the Mid-Atlantic maritime coastal zone, is sometimes split from D. ambrosioides based on its less leafy (or entirely leafless) inflorescences. Virginia specimens have not yet been evaluated based on this character, and further study is needed before this taxon can be mapped.
Habitat
Gardens, fields, disturbed alluvial soil, stream banks and riverbanks, sand and gravel bars, and other open weedy habitats. Frequent throughout.
